Urbint Acquires StormImpact to Boost Utility Resilience Against Extreme Weather

Urbint has acquired StormImpact to create an end-to-end storm response platform for utilities, enhancing resilience against extreme weather events.

Urbint has acquired StormImpact, an AI company specializing in predicting storm-related risks for utility infrastructure, announced in a press release. This acquisition aims to create the first comprehensive storm response platform for utilities, addressing the challenges posed by extreme weather events.

StormImpact's technology, which predicts the risk of storms, wildfires, and floods, is already in use by major utilities across over 15 states, including Southern Company and American Electric Power. By integrating StormImpact's AI capabilities with Urbint's existing platform, utilities can better prepare for weather disruptions by pre-staging resources and crews effectively.

The acquisition builds on Urbint's strategy to enhance infrastructure resilience and follows its previous acquisitions of Competers and WRM Software. Urbint's CEO, Corey Capasso, emphasized the strategic value of combining AI with advanced industry science to mitigate infrastructure risks and improve operational decision-making during major weather events.
