Trailmate Launches Client-Facing Digital Employee for Law Firms

February 06, 2026
Legal tech startup Trailmate has launched what it calls the first autonomous client-facing digital employee for law firms, designed to handle structured legal tasks under supervision and improve client interactions.

Legal technology startup Trailmate has launched what it describes as the legal industry's first autonomous, client-facing digital employee, announced in a press release. The platform is designed to execute structured legal tasks end-to-end under supervision, addressing client communication and document management processes that often slow legal workflows.

Unlike most AI tools that focus on drafting or research, Trailmate operates externally, interacting directly with clients to collect documents, follow up on requests, and complete defined objectives. The system provides full auditability, escalation paths, and supervisory controls to ensure transparency.

Developed and tested at Frontier Law Center, a high-volume plaintiff-side firm, Trailmate was built to function as a digital teammate rather than a support tool. Law firms can delegate client-facing tasks to the AI, which then manages execution while maintaining oversight. According to the company, this approach allows firms to scale operations and reduce administrative workloads without adding staff.
