Synopsys Unveils Real-Time Digital Twin Framework at Microsoft Ignite

December 10, 2025
Synopsys has introduced a simulation-driven framework for real-time optimization of manufacturing processes, demonstrated at Microsoft Ignite. The system integrates NVIDIA Omniverse, Microsoft Azure, and GPU-accelerated Synopsys physics to enable near real-time digital twin simulations.

Synopsys unveiled a new simulation-driven framework for real-time manufacturing optimization at Microsoft Ignite, announced in a press release. The system combines NVIDIA Omniverse and CUDA-X libraries, Microsoft Azure, and Synopsys’ GPU-accelerated physics solvers to enable near real-time digital twin simulations.

The framework was first deployed by packaging systems manufacturer Krones AG, which used it to create a virtual assembly line that accounted for variables such as bottle shape, liquid viscosity, and fill level. The solution reduced simulation times from several hours to under five minutes, allowing for immediate scenario comparisons and process adjustments.

Built on OpenUSD for interoperability across computer-aided engineering tools, the open-source framework integrates Ansys Fluent fluid simulation software and supports scalable cloud deployment. By leveraging Azure’s cloud infrastructure, manufacturers can simulate entire factory floors, optimize workflows, and improve resource allocation without interrupting physical operations.

The framework sets a foundation for physics-informed, simulation-driven applications across industries, expanding access to real-time digital twin insights and collaborative engineering capabilities.
