SOPHiA GENETICS has announced a significant collaboration with Jessa Ziekenhuis to advance genomic testing and oncology research in Belgium, announced in a press release. This partnership aims to bring cutting-edge genomic testing to cancer patients across the country.

Jessa Ziekenhuis, a major healthcare institution in Belgium, will integrate SOPHiA DDM™ into its pathology operations. This integration will standardize next-generation sequencing (NGS) workflows, enhancing efficiency and compliance with national guidelines. The hospital will implement six SOPHiA GENETICS applications tailored to its needs in solid tumors, hematologic malignancies, and liquid biopsy analysis.

The collaboration is expected to reduce hands-on time by 30-50%, cut costs by up to 25%, and accelerate testing turnaround times. Additionally, the SOPHiA DDM™ Dispatch feature will allow Jessa Ziekenhuis to share a NovaSeq sequencer with AZ Delta in Roeselare, Belgium, optimizing sequencing capacity and knowledge sharing through the Bridge Consortium.
