SONiC Foundation Expands AI Networking Ecosystem at OCP Global Summit 2025
The SONiC Foundation announced several milestones at the OCP Global Summit 2025, reinforcing its position as a leading open-source network operating system for enterprise AI workloads, announced in a press release. Highlights include the advancement of Nexthop AI to Premier membership, new deployment case studies, and expanded participation at the event in San Jose, California.
Nexthop AI, a long-time contributor to the SONiC ecosystem, has joined the SONiC Governing Board after moving up from General to Premier membership. The company contributed improvements to platform management code, new product support, and leadership in community workshops and hackathons.
The Foundation also published four new case studies showcasing SONiC’s deployment across various industries. These include SAKURA internet’s 800-GPU cloud infrastructure ranked 49th in the global TOP500 supercomputer list, MITSUI Knowledge Industry’s Tokyo-1 supercomputer, Rakuten’s telecom validation across multi-vendor platforms, and a national retail payments operator in India modernizing its infrastructure with SONiC.
At the OCP Global Summit, SONiC will host workshops, live demonstrations, and an extended session at Google Campus, focusing on collaboration and technical discussions around future innovations and roadmap priorities.
