Oracle to Deploy SambaNova SN50 Inference Chips in OCI
Oracle plans to deploy SambaNova's SambaRack SN50 inference chips in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure data centers and offer the capacity to AI model builders, SambaNova said in a press release. The deal adds another inference chip option to OCI, announced at Oracle AI World on the same day as plans to offer Cerebras inference.
SN50 is SambaNova's fifth generation Reconfigurable Dataflow Unit, built for agentic inference. SambaNova says it delivers up to five times the maximum speed of competing chips at a third of the total cost of ownership. A SambaRack SN50 draws about 20 kW per rack, low enough for existing air-cooled data centers.
The chips are designed for disaggregated inference, in which GPUs handle the prefill stage and SN50 handles decoding, the token generation that determines how fast agents respond.
"We plan to bring SambaNova's RDU chips to OCI to give AI builders another efficient way to run models at scale," said Karan Batta, senior vice president at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. The companies did not give a timeline.
