SkyFi Launches Model Context Protocol for Satellite Imagery Through AI Assistants

SkyFi announced in a press release the launch of its Model Context Protocol (MCP), which connects satellite imagery and geospatial analytics to AI assistants including OpenAI's ChatGPT and Anthropic's Claude. The MCP enables users to search archives, request new satellite captures, and analyze data using plain language commands within their chosen AI platform.

The protocol integrates SkyFi's platform with more than 300 satellite and aerial sources and over 40 analytics and data partners. Through the connection, users can preview interactive maps, adjust areas of interest, and validate orders with transparent pricing. The new system supports optical, radar, thermal, and stereo imagery and offers tools for measuring vegetation health, comparing locations over time, and tracking new captures.

Developers can also connect directly to the same capabilities without building separate API integrations. The MCP is available immediately at no additional cost, with customers paying standard SkyFi pricing for imagery, analytics, and related services, along with any token costs from their selected AI platform.
