Hesai Launches Kosmo 3D Data Engine for Robot Training
Hesai Group launches Kosmo, a 3D world data engine for robot training, world model development and media production, the company said in a press release. The system combines the Kosmo One spatial camera with the Kosmo World cloud platform.
Kosmo One uses lidar, an 8K imaging system and an inertial measurement unit to capture geometry, color, texture and camera position. Hesai says one operator can scan a typical 100 square meter indoor space in about 15 minutes. Kosmo World converts the captured data into 3D Gaussian Splatting, mesh and depth formats, while semantic segmentation identifies individual objects.
The platform can create simulation ready environments and generate more than 10,000 training trajectories from one captured space. Kosmo supports NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Isaac Lab, Unreal Engine, RenderMan and Houdini. Hesai also formed partnerships with Galbot and Dexmal for embodied AI applications, while Amap is using Kosmo reconstructions in its Flying Street View feature.
