Seattle Children's Hospital and Google Cloud Launch AI Tool for Clinical Decision-Making
Seattle Children's Hospital has partnered with Google Cloud to launch 'Pathway Assistant', an AI-powered tool aimed at improving clinical decision-making. Announced in a press release, this collaboration leverages Google's Gemini models to provide healthcare providers with quick access to complex information and evidence-based best practices.
Pathway Assistant is built on Google Cloud's Vertex AI platform and is designed to streamline access to critical, evidence-based information within Clinical Standard Pathways (CSWs). This AI agent synthesizes data from CSWs, including text, images, and the latest medical literature, enabling healthcare providers to make informed decisions more efficiently.
The tool is expected to reduce provider workloads and enhance patient care by promoting greater compliance with standard care processes. Initial pilots have shown promising results in improving patient outcomes by allowing providers to spend more time on patient interactions. The initiative also aims to alleviate the administrative burden on physicians, empowering them to focus on delivering high-quality care.
