Schneider Electric Highlights AI's Role in U.S. Power Demand at BNEF Summit
Schneider Electric began its participation at the 2026 BloombergNEF Summit in New York by addressing how electrification, grid modernization, and digital intelligence can strengthen U.S. competitiveness. The company announced in a press release that its research shows artificial intelligence could contribute up to 50 percent of U.S. electricity demand growth between 2025 and 2030, with total additional demand reaching 157 gigawatts by 2029.
The company introduced a new report titled *Grid Relief from Smart Buildings Equipped with Distributed Energy Resources*, which demonstrates how buildings with distributed energy systems can provide grid capacity at lower cost and faster deployment than traditional grid expansion.
Schneider Electric’s programming at the summit focuses on three priorities: accelerating grid readiness through software defined architectures and digitalization, advancing electrification combined with data intelligence for improved efficiency, and applying operational intelligence through AI enabled analytics in its AVEVA software to reduce downtime and optimize energy use.
Executives including Pankaj Sharma, Aparna Prabhakar, Vincent Petit, Sue Quense, and Bill Brewer are leading the company’s sessions. These include a mainstage panel on energy strategy and a workshop on AI inference and power demand, both aimed at addressing the growing electricity needs of data centers and industrial facilities in the United States.
