Sandiola Introduces Sandpiper AI for Clinical Documentation Integrity
Sandiola has introduced Sandpiper, an AI system for clinical documentation integrity designed for community hospitals and health systems, announced in a press release. The system reviews every inpatient encounter to accurately capture patient acuity and ensure hospitals receive full reimbursement for the care delivered.
Sandpiper is trained on years of real CDI data and powered by advanced models from Anthropic along with Sandiola’s proprietary algorithm. The platform processes each chart in less than a second, providing continuous case coverage and immediate identification of documentation improvement opportunities.
All recommendations generated by Sandpiper are verified by dual-certified CDI and coding clinicians, either at the hospital or through Sandiola's own team. Recommendations are supported by a full money-back guarantee against denials and downgrades, and the service is priced on a contingent basis with no cost unless additional reimbursement is achieved.
In 2025, hospitals working with Sandiola recovered an average of $540,000 for every 3,000 inpatient discharges, equivalent to roughly $180 in additional reimbursement per discharge. Sandpiper aims to expand that capacity while reducing the administrative burden on clinical documentation teams.
