Reken Launches On-Device AI Security Platform and Northstar App
Reken has emerged from stealth, introducing a new on-device AI security platform and its first application, announced in a press release. The company aims to improve safety and trust in online communication with technology that detects AI scams, fraud, and deepfakes.
The core of Reken’s platform is the Reken Private Core, an on-device AI security system that protects communications for each device, account, and user. It uses proprietary AI models and telemetry sensors to identify threats and automation while keeping communication data private and processed locally. The system is designed to operate on standard hardware without GPUs and does not require additional AI token costs.
Products built on the Reken Private Core connect through the Reken Network, a trust layer that enables organizations to exchange information securely. Communications from outside the network are automatically analyzed for malicious or deceptive activity.
Reken’s first product, called Northstar, applies the company's security platform to support employees by identifying threats like phishing, deepfakes, and AI-enabled fraud. Northstar eliminates the need for traditional phishing training by providing proactive protection. It is now available under an Early Access Program for interested organizations.
Reken was founded by Shuman Ghosemajumder and Rich Griffiths, both formerly of Shape Security. The company raised 10 million dollars in funding led by Greycroft and FPV Ventures, with participation from Firebolt Ventures, Fika Ventures, Omega Venture Partners, Homebrew, and JAZZ Venture Partners.
