RapidSOS Acquires Northern911 to Expand Backup Capabilities Across North America
RapidSOS has acquired Northern911, a backup provider of 911 services across North America, announced in a press release. The deal expands RapidSOS’ network, which connects over 22,000 public safety agencies and integrates data from more than 600 million connected devices.
The acquisition enables backup call taking, dispatching, and AI-powered data sharing through RapidSOS’ HARMONY AI system. This technology helps detect outages, route calls, and share intelligence among agencies, supporting continuity during system failures or disasters.
Northern911’s team of APCO-certified telecommunicators will now provide support across RapidSOS’ network as a “last resort option” during outages or major events. The company has over two decades of experience maintaining 911 call flow and documentation for agencies across North America.
RapidSOS said the integration will strengthen its ability to provide mutual aid and operational continuity for emergency communication centers facing disruptions, staffing shortages, or large-scale incidents.
