Pure Data Centres Group and AVK have launched a 110 MW on-site microgrid at Pure DC’s Dublin campus, marking Europe’s first large-scale microgrid designed for data centers. The system supports early-stage operations and integrates with the national grid over time.

Pure Data Centres Group and AVK have launched Europe’s first large-scale 110 MW microgrid for data centers at Pure DC’s Dublin campus, announced in a press release.

The on-site energy system is designed to support early-stage data center operations before full grid connection is available. It provides on-demand power to ensure operational stability and scalability during development phases.

The hybrid energy concept will combine national grid supply with local generation infrastructure to enhance flexibility, resilience, and system stability. The project aims to reduce strain on Ireland’s national grid while accommodating the growing demand for cloud and AI infrastructure.

Pure DC and AVK plan to use the Dublin installation as a model for future large-scale microgrids across Europe, with Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom identified as key target markets.
