Recursive Signs $410 Million AWS Compute Deal

Recursive has signed a $410 million multiyear agreement with Amazon Web Services to run its automated AI research system on AWS, the companies announced in a press release.

Recursive is building AI systems that conduct experiments on how to improve themselves. The company says its system proposes ideas, runs experiments, checks results, and uses what it learns to choose the next experiment.

As part of the agreement, Recursive and AWS plan to jointly develop infrastructure for large scale automated AI research. Recursive said its first public results beat a two year human leaderboard record and outperformed a live human and AI effort across three benchmarks.

Recursive emerged from stealth in May at a $4.65 billion valuation. The company is backed by GV, Greycroft, AMD Ventures, and NVIDIA.
