Oracle Health and Theator Introduce AI Surgical Documentation System

June 24, 2026
Oracle Health and Theator announced a collaboration to bring AI-based surgical intelligence solutions to U.S. hospitals, aiming to automate operative reporting and improve documentation accuracy through video analysis and integration with electronic health records.

Oracle Health and Theator are partnering to deliver AI-based surgical intelligence solutions to Oracle Health customers in the United States, announced in a press release. The collaboration integrates Theator’s video analysis technology with Oracle Health’s electronic health record platform to automate operative reporting and improve accuracy in surgical documentation.

Theator’s system captures surgical video footage, uses AI to interpret the procedure in progress, and generates structured reports that surgeons can review immediately after an operation. These reports are automatically incorporated into Oracle Health’s electronic health record system, allowing clinical, quality, and billing teams to access them within existing workflows.

The AI system runs on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, which provides the computational resources to process high-definition surgical videos and support intensive AI workloads. Theator’s platform has been validated in peer-reviewed research, showing higher accuracy than reports written from memory, and has analyzed more than 600,000 procedures across over 150 types.

According to Oracle Health, this collaboration aims to reduce the time surgeons spend on documentation while improving the detail and reliability of surgical records. The integration also connects surgical data with financial systems to ensure accurate billing and complete case records.
