Optiv Security Inc. has released its 2025 Cybersecurity Threat and Risk Management Report, revealing significant changes in how organizations are addressing cybersecurity threats. Announced in a press release, the report indicates that 79% of organizations are modifying their cybersecurity budgets, with 71% of those increasing their budgets to an average of $24 million.

The report, based on a survey by the Ponemon Institute, highlights a notable increase in cybersecurity incidents, with 66% of respondents reporting a rise in such events over the past year. This has prompted a shift towards data-driven budget decisions, with 67% of organizations now using risk and threat assessments to guide their financial allocations.

Additionally, the report notes a growing reliance on managed security service providers (MSSPs), with outsourcing for cloud security guidance rising from 47% in 2024 to 58% in 2025. The adoption of AI and machine learning is also accelerating, with 46% of organizations using these technologies to prevent cyberattacks, and 88% of these incorporating generative AI.

Automation is playing a transformative role, with 57% of respondents reporting reduced response times to vulnerabilities. The report also identifies challenges in vulnerability management, with 74% of respondents citing a lack of understanding of potential vulnerabilities as a major issue.
