OpenAI has acquired Software Applications Incorporated, the company behind Sky, a natural language interface for macOS. The acquisition will bring Sky’s deep macOS integration into ChatGPT, with the entire team joining OpenAI.

OpenAI has acquired Software Applications Incorporated, the developer of Sky, announced on its website. Sky is a natural language interface for macOS that allows users to interact with their computer and applications through contextual AI commands.

The Sky team will join OpenAI, and its technology will be integrated into ChatGPT. According to OpenAI, Sky’s macOS integration will help bring AI assistance directly into the tools people use daily.

The acquisition was led by Nick Turley and Fidji Simo and approved by OpenAI’s independent Transaction and Audit Committees. A disclosure noted that an investment fund associated with Sam Altman held a passive investment in Software Applications Incorporated.
