Music IP Holdings Opens Patent Licensing for AI Music Creation
Music IP Holdings said in a press release that it has opened a patent licensing framework for generative AI music creation, with Udio and GRAI as the first licensees.
The licenses cover AI music services including covers, remixes, and interactive music experiences. They also include protections aimed at limiting unauthorized redistribution of AI generated content outside licensed services.
Music IP Holdings said the portfolio includes more than 24 issued and allowed patents, with more than 50 patents pending. The patents cover steps such as prompt entry, moderation, watermarking, identifier tagging, authorization, licensed distribution, and payment.
The company said the portfolio is available through an online platform at www.musiciprights.com. It also said the patents extend beyond music to audio, video, film, animation, images, text, and uses involving name and likeness.
