mimic Raises $16 Million to Expand Physical AI for Dexterous Robots

Zurich-based robotics company mimic has raised $16 million in seed funding led by Elaia, with participation from Speedinvest, Founderful, 1st Kind, 10X Founders, 2100 Ventures, and the Sequoia Scout Fund, announced in a press release. The round brings the company’s total funding to over $20 million, which will be used to advance its foundation AI model, develop humanoid robotic hands, and expand industrial deployments.

mimic develops physical AI systems that allow robots to handle complex, dexterous tasks autonomously. Its technology is trained on data captured from human demonstrations using proprietary wearable devices. These devices record detailed motion data from factory floors, enabling the company’s AI models to teach robots to replicate human movements and adapt to changes in real time.

The company’s approach pairs AI-driven robotic hands with existing industrial robot arms rather than full humanoid forms, aiming to simplify deployment. mimic’s systems are being piloted with Fortune 500 manufacturers, automotive firms, and global logistics providers.

Founded in 2024 as a spin-off from ETH Zurich, mimic employs a team of 25 engineers and researchers. The company has also received support from Switzerland’s federal innovation agency and participated in the AWS Generative AI Accelerator program.
