Microsoft Copilot Gains Web Browsing and Task Automation Features
Microsoft Corporation has announced significant updates to its AI assistant, Microsoft Copilot, which now includes the ability to browse the web and perform actions on behalf of users. In a company blog post, Microsoft detailed that Copilot can now book tickets, reserve restaurants, and even track online deals, enhancing its utility as a personal assistant.
The new features allow Copilot to interact with a variety of websites, including partners like Booking.com, Expedia, and OpenTable, to complete tasks such as sending flowers or booking travel arrangements. Users can issue simple chat prompts to initiate these actions, which Copilot will handle in the background.
Additionally, Copilot has been enhanced with memory capabilities, allowing it to remember user preferences and provide tailored suggestions. This personalization is part of Microsoft's broader vision to make Copilot a more integral part of users' daily lives, offering proactive assistance and reminders based on past interactions.
The updates are rolling out initially to Windows Insider program members, with broader availability expected in the coming weeks. These enhancements position Copilot as a competitive player in the AI assistant market, alongside similar offerings from OpenAI and Google.
