Meta AI has introduced AssetGen 2.0, a new AI model designed to generate high-quality 3D assets from text and image prompts, according to a company blog post. This latest version represents a significant advancement over its predecessor, AssetGen 1.0, by employing a single-stage 3D diffusion model that directly generates 3D meshes with improved detail and fidelity.

AssetGen 2.0 consists of two models: one for generating 3D meshes and another for textures. This approach ensures that the assets are not only visually stunning but also production-ready. The model's architecture allows for geometric consistency and fine details, setting a new standard in the industry.

Meta is currently using AssetGen 2.0 internally for creating 3D worlds and plans to roll it out to Horizon creators later this year. The company also hinted at future capabilities, including the generation of entire 3D scenes from simple text or image prompts, which could revolutionize the creation of virtual environments.
