Lloyds Banking Group is enhancing its AI capabilities by migrating its data science platforms to Google Cloud's Vertex AI, as announced in a press release. This strategic move aims to transform customer and colleague experiences by leveraging advanced AI and data science capabilities.

The migration involves transitioning 15 modeling systems, which include hundreds of individual models, from on-premise infrastructure to the cloud. The new platform allows for the rapid deployment of machine learning and generative AI models, with over 300 data scientists and AI developers now utilizing the platform.

Since the deployment of the new platform on Vertex AI, Lloyds Banking Group has initiated over 80 new machine learning use cases and launched more than 18 generative AI systems into production. The Group is also working on an Agentic AI system, expected to transform customer interactions with the bank, set to launch later this year.

Ranil Boteju, Group Chief Data and Analytics Officer at Lloyds Banking Group, highlighted the transformative impact of moving to Vertex AI, which provides scalability and reliability for AI innovation. Tara Brady from Google Cloud emphasized the partnership's role in driving personalized customer experiences through cloud-powered AI innovation.
