LightSource Launches AI Workforce for Direct Materials Sourcing
LightSource announced in a press release LightSource AI Workforce, a set of five AI capabilities for direct materials sourcing. The company said the tools target data analytics, item ingestion, RFQ setup, supplier activation, and award optimization.
Ask LightSource lets users ask questions in plain English about spend, suppliers, pipeline, and sourcing history. Item Ingestion and Data Clean Up extracts item data from drawings, spreadsheets, PDFs, and images, then merges it into existing item records and bills of materials.
The RFX Setup capability creates quote format templates for sourcing events. Supplier Activation handles supplier questions, deadline reminders, and quote submissions. Award Optimization lets users set constraints such as cost, location, and lead times for award scenarios.
LightSource said early customers reduced RFQ cycles from two weeks to 15 minutes. The company also said users processed more than 3,300 items and created more than 250 quote formats in the first two months. The platform requires user approval before actions are executed.
