Internet2 and Google Launch AI Education Leadership Program for Universities
Internet2 and Google have introduced the Internet2 NET+ Google AI Education Leadership Program, a joint initiative to support responsible AI adoption in higher education, announced in a press release.
The program offers a structured framework for colleges and universities to integrate Google's AI tools, including Gemini and NotebookLM, into teaching, research, and administrative operations. It emphasizes collaboration across institutions to share best practices and accelerate effective AI use.
The first cohort includes ten U.S. universities, such as Lehigh University, New York University, the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Wisconsin–Madison, collectively serving more than 325,000 students. Participants will have access to onboarding, training, and collaboration opportunities with Google experts.
The initiative aims to enable higher education institutions to implement AI tools in secure, transparent, and ethical ways while streamlining operations and enhancing learning outcomes.
