IBM Expands Z Software Portfolio with New Security and AI Tools
IBM announced in a press release the general availability of three new software tools for its IBM Z platform, designed to enhance security and operational efficiency for enterprise infrastructure.
The first tool, IBM zSecure Detection, monitors IBM Z activity for ransomware and suspicious behavior, providing enterprises with a comprehensive system for detecting and responding to potential threats on z/OS environments. The second, IBM zSecure Secret Manager, automates certificate management for IBM Z and LinuxONE systems, helping teams manage shortened certificate lifecycles through continuous monitoring powered by IBM Vault Self Managed for Z.
The third product, IBM Z Database Assistant, introduces AI powered capabilities to database operations. It uses agentic AI to optimize database administration tasks, improve performance, and ensure continuous data availability. These tools expand IBM's portfolio of Z Software, which focuses on protecting critical workloads and modernizing mainframe operations in hybrid cloud environments.
IBM stated that these releases complement ongoing initiatives such as Project Glasswing and the open source security effort Project Lightwell, reinforcing its approach to secure and intelligent enterprise infrastructure.
