IBM and Aramco Plan Collaboration on Industrial AI in Saudi Arabia

IBM and Aramco announced plans to collaborate on artificial intelligence, automation, and material science to develop industrial solutions in Saudi Arabia. The partnership was revealed at IBM's THINK Boston event and aims to combine IBM's technology platforms with Aramco's industrial expertise.

IBM and Saudi Aramco announced in a press release their intention to collaborate on artificial intelligence, automation, material science, and other industrial technologies in Saudi Arabia. The announcement took place at IBM's THINK Boston event, attended by IBM Chairman and CEO Arvind Krishna and Aramco Senior Vice President of Digital and Information Technology Sami Al Ajmi.

The partnership aims to develop practical industrial applications by combining IBM's technology platforms, consulting expertise, and research capabilities with Aramco's large-scale industrial operations and energy sector knowledge. The companies plan to explore the use of AI and hybrid cloud systems to support industrial and energy infrastructure, focusing on mission critical environments.

According to Aramco, the collaboration is aligned with its long-term strategy to use technology to enhance operational reliability and safety. IBM stated that the initiative will explore how emerging technologies can address complex industrial challenges.

Aramco and IBM have maintained a partnership since 1947, spanning multiple generations of technology. The new collaboration remains subject to final agreements between the two companies.
