Hippo Deploys Cognition’s Devin AI Engineer Across Its Insurance Platform

June 26, 2026
Hippo Holdings has implemented Cognition’s AI software engineer Devin across its engineering teams to speed up software development for its insurance operations, covering areas from rate filings to customer experience.

Hippo Holdings Inc. has deployed Devin, the AI software engineer developed by Cognition, across its engineering teams to accelerate software development throughout its insurance lifecycle. The company announced in a press release that Devin will support faster and more reliable software delivery for processes such as underwriting, risk management, and customer experience.

Devin is designed to handle complex, multi-step engineering tasks, including planning, writing, and testing code across large systems. At Hippo, the system assists in building software that meets regulatory requirements across all U.S. states, reducing manual effort while maintaining accuracy.

According to Hippo’s Chief Product and Artificial Intelligence Officer Kyle Ramsay, the integration of Devin allows engineers to focus on high-value work related to products, data, and operations. The AI system is now being used across the company’s operations, including its AI service representative Hannah, program data ingestion for managing general agents, and distribution initiatives.

Jeff Wang, Cognition’s President of New Enterprise, said the partnership reflects Cognition’s goal of enabling secure, autonomous engineering agents in regulated industries such as insurance.
