Google Cloud Expands Vertex AI Agent Builder With New Developer Tools
Google Cloud has introduced updates to its Vertex AI Agent Builder platform, adding new capabilities for enterprises to create and manage AI agents more efficiently. The update includes an Agent Development Kit (ADK) API that allows developers to build and deploy AI agents, and a managed Vertex AI Agent Engine designed to help scale those agents in production environments.
The latest release also adds governance tools such as native agent identities and security safeguards. These allow organizations to assign identities to agents, manage access privileges, and establish resource boundaries to meet compliance requirements.
New build features include expanded language support for Python and Java, a plugin framework for adaptable agent functions, and a self-healing capability that lets agents retry failed tool calls automatically. Observability tools have also been added, enabling developers to monitor agent performance, identify issues, and simulate behavior before deployment.
The update follows Google Cloud’s continued investment in vertex-based AI tooling to support enterprise adoption of agentic AI. The company’s AI Mode search service will also become available on Chrome for iOS and Android, extending its reach across mobile platforms.
