G42 Seeks New Chip Suppliers for AI Campus
G42, a technology group backed by Abu Dhabi, is actively seeking to diversify its chip suppliers for a planned UAE-US AI campus. The company is exploring partnerships with major American technology firms, including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Corporation, Meta, and Elon Musk's xAI to become tenants at the new data center. Google is reportedly the furthest along in these negotiations.
In addition to these collaborations, G42 is considering chipmakers such as AMD, Cerebras Systems, and Qualcomm to provide computing capacity for the campus. This strategic move comes as G42 aims to expand its technological capabilities and reduce reliance on a single supplier, previously dominated by Nvidia.
The AI campus was initially announced during a visit by a U.S. delegation to the Emirates, highlighting the significant investments and collaborations between the UAE and U.S. in the field of artificial intelligence.
