
Figure AI Seeks $1.5 Billion in New Funding Round
Robotics startup Figure AI is in talks to raise $1.5 billion in a funding round that would value the company at $39.5 billion, according to Bloomberg. The Series C round is expected to be led by Align Ventures and Parkway Venture Capital.
Figure AI, known for developing humanoid robots, has previously raised $675 million, valuing the company at $2.6 billion. The startup's notable investors include OpenAI, Nvidia, Microsoft, and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. The company has already secured BMW as a customer and is reportedly in discussions with a second commercial client.
The interest in humanoid robots is growing, with major tech companies like Meta and Tesla also investing in this area. Figure AI's founder and CEO, Brett Adcock, recently announced the company's decision to end its collaboration with OpenAI, citing internal advancements in AI technology for robots. The startup aims to ship 100,000 humanoid robots over the next four years, focusing on tasks that are dangerous or tedious for humans.
