IDrive Launches Licenseable L2+ Driver Assistance Platform
IDrive launched IDrive Autonomy Assisted Driving, a licenseable L2+ driver assistance platform for automotive companies, the company announced in a press release. The platform is available for licensing now and is operating on a production vehicle for public road demonstrations.
The system supports lane keeping through curves, adaptive cruise control, stop and go traffic management, lane change assistance, object and lead vehicle tracking, lane departure warnings, and a driver display showing what the system sees. IDrive says the platform has logged more than 1,100 miles while engaged, more than 25 hours of engaged driving, and an engaged top speed of 70 mph.
IDrive says the assisted driving stack uses two cameras, an inertial measurement unit, and compute hardware, with an estimated hardware cost of about $1,500. The cameras can be installed behind the rearview mirror without vehicle modification.
The company says the platform is built as a single learned driving system rather than separate driver assistance functions. Its roadmap includes assisted driving, collaborative driving, and robotaxi applications, with the current launch focused on L2+ assisted driving.
