Exascend Introduces 30.72TB 7mm U.2 SSD for Edge Storage

Exascend has launched a new 30.72TB 7mm U.2 SSD, offering double the storage density and 50% less power consumption, ideal for edge storage applications.

Exascend has unveiled its latest innovation in storage technology with the introduction of a 30.72TB 7mm U.2 SSD, announced in a press release. This new addition to the PE4 series offers a significant leap in storage density, providing up to 4.5TB per millimeter of thickness while reducing power consumption by 50% compared to typical alternatives.

The PE4 series is designed to meet the demands of edge servers, rugged industrial computers, and space-constrained data centers. With an active power draw of just 7 watts and less than 1.5 watts at idle, these SSDs are optimized for environments where power efficiency is crucial. The 30.72TB model allows for up to 737TB of flash storage in a single 1U server, effectively halving rack space requirements compared to 15mm drives.

Exascend's new SSDs also feature Adaptive Thermal Control technology, ensuring consistent performance in high-temperature environments without thermal throttling. The drives are equipped with a PCIe Gen4 x4 interface and 3D TLC NAND, offering enterprise-class performance and reliability with security features such as AES-256 hardware encryption and TCG OPAL 2.0 compliance.

Engineering samples of the new PE4 models are currently available to select customers, with full production expected in Q3 2025. The PE4 series also includes models with capacities of 7.68TB and 15.36TB, catering to a range of storage needs.
