DeepScribe Introduces Automated E/M Coding for Healthcare

DeepScribe has announced the launch of automated Evaluation and Management (E/M) coding within its Ambient Operating System, aimed at improving billing workflows for healthcare organizations.

DeepScribe has unveiled its latest AI feature, automated Evaluation and Management (E/M) coding, as part of its Ambient Operating System for clinicians, announced in a press release. This new addition aims to streamline billing workflows and ensure accurate reimbursement for healthcare organizations.

The E/M coding feature is designed to integrate seamlessly with existing electronic health record (EHR) systems, providing real-time code selection based on patient-clinician conversations. It includes coding knowledge embedded within the AI for optimal accuracy, detailed documentation to support selected codes, and quick reference pop-ups for each generated code.

DeepScribe's CEO, Matthew Ko, emphasized that this innovation allows healthcare providers to focus more on patient care by automating the coding and documentation processes. The company will demonstrate this functionality at the 2025 HIMSS Global Health Conference & Exhibition in Las Vegas.

This development is part of DeepScribe's ongoing investment in revenue cycle management intelligence, complementing its existing capabilities in ICD-10 codes and Hierarchical Condition Categories (HCCs). The new E/M coding feature is expected to help healthcare organizations avoid coding errors and ensure fair reimbursements while minimizing the risk of audits or penalties.
