DeepRoute.ai Technology Integrated into Smart #5 EHD Plug-In Hybrid

November 06, 2025
Smart has selected DeepRoute.ai’s assisted driving system for its first plug-in hybrid model, the Smart #5 EHD, following a successful 30.9-kilometer test drive in urban conditions.

Smart has selected DeepRoute.ai’s assisted driving technology for its first plug-in hybrid model, the Smart #5 EHD, announced in a press release. The system was chosen for its safety, human-like driving behavior, and readiness for mass production.

A 30.9-kilometer test drive through complex urban environments was conducted by DeepRoute.ai CEO Maxwell Zhou and Smart Global CTO Yang Jun. The drive achieved zero takeovers, demonstrating the system’s ability to handle unprotected turns, construction zones, and dense traffic while maintaining smooth, human-like decisions.

DeepRoute.ai stated that its technology has already been deployed in approximately 150,000 production vehicles worldwide, supporting scalability and reliability for automakers. The collaboration extends DeepRoute.ai’s map-free assisted driving capabilities from electric to plug-in hybrid platforms.

The company is also developing integration between intelligent driving systems and in-cabin large models, aiming to create vehicles that can interact naturally with drivers through contextual understanding.
