Cursor Releases Composer 2 Coding Model With Major Performance Gains

Cursor has announced the release of Composer 2, a new coding model that delivers major improvements in coding intelligence, efficiency, and cost. The model is available now within Cursor.

Composer 2 achieved substantial gains on multiple benchmarks, including Terminal-Bench 2.0 and SWE-bench Multilingual, showing a significant jump in performance compared to Composer 1.5 and the original Composer model. These results are attributed to a continued pretraining process and reinforcement learning on long-horizon coding tasks.

The model is priced at $0.50 per million input tokens and $2.50 per million output tokens. A faster variant offers the same level of intelligence at $1.50 per million input tokens and $7.50 per million output tokens. The faster option is being made the default for users.

Composer 2 is available to try now in Cursor, with usage included in individual plans through a dedicated usage pool.
