Coupa Acquires Tonkean to Expand Agentic Workflow Automation

May 22, 2026
Coupa Software has acquired Tonkean, an AI-native intake and orchestration platform, to strengthen its agentic trade network and enhance autonomous spend management capabilities for global buyers and suppliers.

Coupa Software has acquired Tonkean, an AI native intake and orchestration platform, announced in a press release. The acquisition aims to accelerate Coupa's ability to deliver agentic workflow automation and execution across its global trade network of more than 3,500 buyers and 10 million suppliers.

Tonkean's platform adds a natural language interface for request submission and tracking, and a framework for multi agent orchestration that coordinates complex workflows. According to Coupa, this integration can reduce cycle times by half and save operations teams over 30 hours per week. Suppliers will also benefit from unified API integrations that simplify connectivity and business growth.

This marks Coupa's fourth strategic acquisition in its plan to build a unified agentic trade network, following the purchases of Cirtuo, Scoutbee, and Rossum. Tonkean's no code process builder and more than 250 native connectors will now be embedded into Coupa's system to provide advanced orchestration and integration without requiring replacement of existing customer architecture.

Coupa plans to showcase the combined platform in a live walkthrough on June 4.
