Cognition Secures $500 Million to Boost AI Coding Platform
Cognition has reportedly raised approximately $500 million in a new funding round, led by Founders Fund, according to The Wall Street Journal. This investment values the AI coding assistant startup at $9.8 billion.
Founded in 2023, Cognition specializes in developing autonomous AI agents for software development. Its flagship product, Devin, is designed to manage software projects end-to-end, from planning and coding to testing and deployment, with minimal human intervention. Devin's capabilities extend beyond traditional coding assistants by autonomously handling entire development lifecycles within a secure sandbox environment.
Cognition's ecosystem includes MultiDevin, which allows for the coordination of multiple AI agents, and tools like Devin Search and Devin Wiki, which enhance productivity and compliance for engineering teams. The company has attracted notable clients such as Goldman Sachs and Ramp Business Corp.
This latest funding round follows Cognition's recent acquisition of Windsurf Inc., as the company continues to expand its offerings and market presence.
