Clearco Survey Finds Nearly 80% of Ecommerce Leaders Use AI

A Clearco survey of 208 US ecommerce finance and operations leaders found that nearly 80% use AI in their work, while 93% changed their inventory strategy over the past year.

Clearco said in a press release that nearly 80% of surveyed ecommerce leaders use AI in finance or operations. The report covers 208 US finance and operations leaders at companies that sell directly to consumers.

Among respondents, 34% said AI is central to forecasting, capital planning and inventory management. Technology and AI tools were the leading area for increased investment, while 61% plan to shift customer acquisition spending toward discovery methods designed for AI systems or agents.

The survey also found that 93% changed their inventory strategy during the past year. Some 39% increased safety stock, 35% reduced inventory and relied on faster replenishment, 37% ordered earlier and 34% placed smaller orders more often. Inflation and higher input costs were a planning challenge for 64% of respondents, followed by tariffs or trade policy changes at 55%.

Clearco provides revenue based financing to ecommerce companies of the kind it surveyed.
