ChatGPT's mobile app has generated $2 billion in global consumer spending since its launch in May 2023, significantly outpacing its competitors.

ChatGPT has achieved a significant milestone with its mobile app, reaching $2 billion in global consumer spending since its launch in May 2023. This achievement highlights the app's dominance in the AI assistant market, as it has outpaced competitors like Claude, Copilot, and Grok by a substantial margin.

In 2025 alone, the app has generated $1.35 billion, marking a 673% increase compared to the same period in 2024. On average, the app is generating nearly $193 million per month. This figure is approximately 53 times higher than its nearest competitor, Grok, which has made $25.6 million so far this year.

The app's success is also reflected in its download numbers, with an estimated 690 million installs globally. India leads in lifetime installs, accounting for 13.7% of total downloads, while the U.S. follows with 10.3%. However, U.S. users contribute nearly 40% of the app's total revenue, with an average spending of $10 per download.

ChatGPT's mobile app continues to lead in global lifetime revenue per install, averaging $2.91, compared to $2.55 for Claude, $0.75 for Grok, and $0.28 for Copilot. This data underscores the app's strong traction with consumers and its significant lead over other AI chatbots in the mobile market.
