Cadence Launches Maestro AI Models Chipmakers Can Run In-House

Oct 27, 2026
Cadence launched Maestro, AI models for chip design built partly on Nvidia Nemotron that customers can run behind their own firewalls.

Cadence Design Systems launched Cadence Maestro, a suite of AI models tuned for chip design, Reuters reported. The models are built partly on Nvidia's open-weight Nemotron model and secured with Nvidia's OpenShell safety technology. Customers can run them on Cadence's cloud, any public cloud, or entirely in-house behind their own firewalls.

Customers can also fine-tune the models on their own chip designs. Cadence said early results show up to 30% higher quality and up to five times better cost-efficiency than general-purpose models. The approach differs from rival Synopsys, which said on Sept. 30 that it would build a model with OpenAI that runs on OpenAI-hosted infrastructure. Cadence shares rose 3.9% after the announcement.
