Bybit Says AI Security Tools Helped Block $700 Million in Potential Losses
Bybit said in a press release it intercepted more than $700 million in potential user losses in the first half of 2026 after expanding its security systems following a February 2025 theft of about $1.46 billion in digital assets. Its H1 2026 Risk & Security Report covers January 1 to June 15 and describes three layers: account protection, real time blockchain monitoring, and AI assisted security operations.
Bybit said it intercepted more than 30,000 suspicious withdrawal requests, affecting nearly 20,000 users. The average initial risk review took 4.7 minutes, with 95 percent completed within 10 minutes. The company also identified about $212 million in funds linked to possible fraud and blacklisted more than 10,000 malicious addresses.
The exchange said it now monitors 100 percent of business relevant blockchain activity, including listed token contracts, ecosystem contracts, and its cold, warm, and hot wallets. During the period, it handled 10 security incidents involving listed token projects, with no resulting platform losses.
Bybit said AI assisted analysis processed more than 100,000 security alerts in the period. Its automated red team platform assessed 1,489 public assets and found more than 100 severe vulnerabilities. The company said average time from asset discovery to initial penetration testing fell to under 24 hours, while human security staff remained responsible for complex threat decisions.
