Barclays Expands Claude Use Across Software Development
Barclays is expanding its use of Claude from Anthropic across software development and internal operations, according to Finextra.
The bank expects Claude Code to reach 50% of its developers by the end of 2026 and a majority of its software engineers in 2027. Barclays plans to use the coding tool to accelerate software development and update legacy systems.
Barclays also uses Claude for an employee knowledge assistant that has been available since 2025. More than 16,000 employees have used the assistant, which has processed over one million searches through a retrieval augmented generation system.
Within its global markets business, Claude models classify and enrich incoming emails, then select how each message should be processed. The system handles about 120,000 emails per day.
