Baidu's Apollo Go to Launch Robotaxis in Dubai
Baidu, Inc. has announced a strategic partnership with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai to introduce its Apollo Go autonomous vehicles in the city. In a press release, Baidu revealed plans to deploy 100 of its 6th-generation RT6 robotaxis by the end of 2025, with a goal to expand the fleet to at least 1,000 vehicles by 2028.
This initiative marks Apollo Go's first international fleet deployment outside of mainland China and Hong Kong, and its entry into the Middle East market. The collaboration aims to integrate autonomous ride-hailing into Dubai's transportation ecosystem, aligning with the city's vision to make 25% of its transportation autonomous by 2030.
The deployment will begin in urban Dubai, where the complex traffic environment will test the capabilities of Apollo Go's autonomous driving system. Baidu's experience in large-scale deployments across major Chinese cities, such as Wuhan, will inform the operations in Dubai, ensuring compliance with local laws and adaptation to regional needs.
