Atom Computing Signs $100 Million Letter of Intent with U.S. Department of Commerce
U.S. Department of Commerce has signed a Letter of Intent with Atom Computing for $100 million in funding to advance fault tolerant, utility scale quantum computing, announced in a press release.
The funding will support Atom Computing's engineering initiatives to accelerate development of large scale quantum systems based on neutral atom technology. These initiatives include in-house component development, parallel testbeds for rapid validation, and expanded collaboration with supply chain partners.
Atom Computing is currently installing what it describes as the first commercial quantum computer with logical qubits. The company is also performing on Stage B of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency's Quantum Benchmarking Initiative, focused on demonstrating paths toward scalable quantum systems.
According to the company, this investment will allow faster progress on key engineering milestones and strengthen U.S. leadership in quantum computing.
