Anthropic Acquires Stainless to Strengthen Developer Infrastructure
Anthropic has acquired Stainless | Generate best-in-class SDKs, a developer tools company known for its automated SDK generation software, announced in a press release. Stainless technology has powered every official Anthropic SDK since the early days of its API.
Founded in 2022 by Alex Rattray, Stainless built software that converts API specifications into SDKs across multiple programming languages including Python, TypeScript, Go, Java, and Kotlin. The platform automatically updates SDKs when APIs change, reducing the need for manual maintenance.
Anthropic plans to integrate Stainless capabilities into its Claude platform to improve how developers and AI agents connect to external data and tools. The company will wind down Stainless hosted products, but existing customers will retain ownership and rights to modify previously generated SDKs.
Anthropic said the acquisition will enhance its ability to support agents that interact with external systems through SDKs, CLIs, and MCP servers, continuing its focus on improving developer experience and agent connectivity.
