AMD will acquire World Labs in an all stock deal valued at $8.2 billion, according to Fortune. The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.

World Labs develops world models trained on data such as video to represent physical spaces and object movement. The technology can support applications including robots and autonomous vehicles.

World Labs cofounder Fei-Fei Li will join AMD as executive vice president and chief scientist, reporting to CEO Lisa Su. The companies began a technical partnership in 2025 focused on optimizing model training and inference for AMD GPUs, and the World Labs team will join AMD after the acquisition closes.
