Amazon to Invest $20 Billion in Pennsylvania for AI Data Centers
Amazon has announced a significant investment of $20 billion in Pennsylvania to expand its cloud computing infrastructure and advance artificial intelligence (AI) innovation. This investment will establish multiple innovation campuses and create 1,250 new high-skilled jobs, as well as support thousands more in the AWS data center supply chain, according to Amazon.
The planned investment will see the development of data center complexes in Salem Township and Falls Township, with additional sites under consideration. These campuses will not only create direct employment opportunities but also support local construction jobs and positions in the data center supply chain. The initiative includes workforce development training programs and community projects, such as the Amazon Northeastern Pennsylvania Community Fund, which will provide grants to support STEM education and other local initiatives.
Amazon's commitment to Pennsylvania is part of a broader strategy to enhance its AI capabilities and cloud infrastructure across the United States. This move follows similar investments in other states, reflecting the company's ongoing efforts to maintain its leadership in AI and cloud computing technologies.
