Amazon Acquires AI Wearables Startup Bee

Amazon has announced its acquisition of Bee, a San Francisco-based startup known for its AI-enabled wearable devices that transcribe and analyze conversations.

Amazon has confirmed its acquisition of Bee, a San Francisco-based startup specializing in AI-enabled wearables. Bee is known for its $50 wristband that can listen to and transcribe conversations, offering features such as summaries and to-do lists.

The acquisition was announced following a LinkedIn post by Bee's CEO and co-founder, Maria de Lourdes Zollo. While the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, it was confirmed that Bee will join Amazon's devices group, led by executive Panos Panay.

This move marks Amazon's continued interest in AI and wearables, following previous ventures like the now-discontinued Halo health trackers and its Echo smart glasses. The company aims to integrate Bee's technology to provide users with more control over their devices, including features to automatically transcribe audio with an option to mute.

Amazon has been actively expanding its AI capabilities, recently overhauling its Alexa voice assistant and introducing various AI products and services. The acquisition of Bee aligns with Amazon's broader strategy to enhance its AI offerings and maintain competitiveness in the tech industry.
