ABB Invests in Gridcog to Support Advanced Energy Project Modelling

ABB has made a minority investment in UK startup Gridcog to improve digital modelling for renewable and distributed energy projects, supporting customers in evaluating cost and carbon performance.

ABB announced in a press release that it has made a minority investment in UK-based energy software company Gridcog. The investment aims to accelerate advanced digital modelling capabilities for renewable generation, storage, industrial microgrids, distributed energy resources, and energy-as-a-service projects.

Gridcog’s platform allows energy professionals to design, simulate, and manage complex energy systems across multiple markets. The software helps users compare project scenarios and understand both cost and carbon outcomes from early planning stages.

According to ABB, the partnership will enhance its customers’ ability to create clear, data-based business cases for renewable and energy transition initiatives. Financial terms of the investment were not disclosed.

The transaction was made through ABB Electrification Ventures and reflects the company's focus on building partnerships that expand its digital tools for productivity, efficiency, and sustainability.
